How to Look Up Villager Professions Using a Villager Spawn Egg

Why Use the Spawn Egg Instead of an Emerald

The villager spawn egg works exactly like the emerald for this mod, but it is handy when you are already in creative mode setting up a test world or a trading area and do not want to swap items. Any item that the mod recognizes as a profession lookup trigger will open the same REI list.

Step by Step

1. Select the villager spawn egg in your hotbar so it is the held item.

2. Press the REI Uses key — U by default.

3. The REI interface opens a scrollable list of every registered villager profession.

4. Each row pairs a profession with the workstation block required to obtain it.

5. Hold Shift to reveal the mod ID in front of each profession name, which tells you whether it is vanilla or from another mod.

When This Is Most Useful

This is the fastest way to audit a modpack. If you have installed several mods that add villagers, opening the list once shows you everything at a glance. You can then decide which workstations to craft or place. Note that the list reflects what is registered in your current instance — it will not show professions from mods you have not installed.
