Adjust Shadow Quality and Performance
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings) while in-game, or access it through the Iris configuration screen. Look for the shader settings panel—this is where all visual adjustments live.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Locate the shadow-related sliders, typically labeled as shadow distance, shadow quality, or shadow softness. Increasing shadow distance makes shadows render farther from your character, but costs more performance. Reducing shadow quality or softness can help maintain framerates on lower-end systems while keeping the natural look.
Balance Visuals and FPS
Start with default settings and adjust one slider at a time. If you're getting frame drops, reduce shadow distance first—this has the biggest performance impact. If shadows look too harsh or pixelated, increase the softness slider instead. Test in different lighting conditions: under trees, near buildings, and in open areas.
Save Your Preferences
Once you find settings that look good and run smoothly, the shader typically saves automatically. If you switch between performance and quality presets, you can usually save multiple profiles within the shader menu.
