Safe Travel Methods

The void between islands is deadly. Never attempt to jump across large gaps without preparation. Instead, build bridges using blocks you can place mid-air, or use scaffolding for temporary pathways.

Elytra with fireworks provides fast travel once you've obtained these items, but early-game exploration requires careful bridge building.

Mapping Your World

Floating islands are scattered unpredictably. Create a map early and mark island locations, especially those with useful biomes or resources. This prevents getting lost and helps you plan efficient travel routes.

Biome Exploration

All biomes generate on floating islands, including deserts, jungles, and snowy terrain. Each island cluster may contain different biomes, so exploration reveals new resources and mobs. Use boats on floating oceans and rivers to travel between larger water-surrounded islands.

Checkpoint Bases

Establish small waypoint shelters on distant islands. Stock them with basic supplies and beds so you can rest during long exploration trips. This reduces the risk of dying far from home and losing your items.
