Finding Resources on Floating Islands
Adapting Your Mining Strategy
Floating islands create unique resource distribution challenges. Since terrain is fragmented and suspended, traditional strip mining becomes less effective. Instead, focus on vertical exploration within and beneath each island cluster.
Where to Look
Ores generate normally within floating island terrain, but you'll need to navigate the gaps between islands. Use water buckets or scaffolding to bridge between landmasses safely. Caves still generate within islands and often provide better ore concentrations than surface mining.
Check the undersides of islands—ores can spawn on exposed stone faces. Bring a pickaxe and patience; you may need to climb or build temporary structures to reach ore veins.
Water and Lava Hazards
Floating aquifers and water bodies generate throughout the landscape. Be cautious when mining near these floating water sources, as they can create unexpected flooding. Lava pools still generate normally, so carry water for emergency situations.
Consider establishing a base on a larger island with good ore access, then branch out to smaller islands for specific resources. This reduces travel time and keeps your supplies centralized.
