Adjust VHS Filter Intensity and Grain
Access Shader Settings
Open your shader options menu while in-game. Look for the Retro VHS Screen Shaders configuration panel—this is usually found in your video settings under shaders or post-processing effects.
Customize Visual Effects
You'll find sliders and toggles for:
- Grain intensity: Controls how visible the grainy texture overlay appears. Lower values create a cleaner look, while higher values intensify the vintage tape effect.
- Color saturation: Adjust how muted or vibrant the VHS color palette becomes. Retro recordings typically have reduced color range.
- Flickering strength: Modify how often and how noticeably the screen flickers, mimicking old tape playback issues.
- Scan lines: Toggle horizontal line artifacts that appear on old CRT monitors and camcorders.
Fine-Tune for Your Preference
Make small adjustments and test in different lighting conditions. Bright daylight scenes may need different settings than dark caves or night exploration. Save your preferred configuration so it applies automatically when you load worlds.
Experiment with maximum settings for horror maps, or dial back intensity for casual survival play where you want the aesthetic without distraction.
