How to Expand a Resource Pack So It Can Offer More Options

Why expansion matters

Resource expansion is Respackopts' way of letting one pack present many more choices than a single flat config would allow. Instead of cramming every variant into one screen, you structure options so they build on each other, giving players a cleaner menu and giving you room to add content without rewriting everything.

Structuring your options

Group related settings together and let one option influence what the others mean or which assets apply. Define each group in the Respackopts config with clear labels so the generated menu stays readable. Because the menu is generated from your config, good naming and sensible defaults matter as much as the assets themselves — a player should be able to understand each control without reading your source files.

Keeping it performant

Respackopts caches parsing and computations, so heavy conditional logic costs you mainly on the first load after a change; afterward, resource access is fast. That means you can afford richer option trees than you might expect, but you should still avoid redundant conditions that evaluate the same thing repeatedly. Test by enabling the pack, opening its menu, changing several options, and reloading resources. Verify each combination resolves to the intended asset. If a branch of options never appears, the config entry for it is likely invalid or unreferenced — fix the config before touching your textures.
