Respackopts Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open a resource pack's config menu in-game?
Open the resource pack selection screen and look for a config or settings button next to any pack that supports Respackopts. Clicking it opens that pack's own options menu, where you can toggle its features without editing files.
Why does a resource pack show no config button?
The pack itself has to include Respackopts support, usually through a config file bundled inside it. Packs without that file simply have nothing to configure, so no button appears.
Do I need to restart the game after changing options in a pack's config menu?
No, changes apply as soon as you confirm them in the menu. Respackopts reloads the affected resources automatically, so you can see the result immediately.
How do conditional resources work in Respackopts?
Pack authors define conditions in the pack's config, and Respackopts only loads the resources whose conditions are currently met. This lets one pack swap textures or models based on the options a player selects.
What does resource expansion mean in Respackopts?
Expansion lets a pack generate additional resource entries from a template instead of listing every file by hand. It's mainly a pack-author feature, but it's why some packs can offer many more options than their file count suggests.
Can I use Respackopts with shader packs like Iris or OptiFine?
Yes, Respackopts integrates with Fabulous shaders and with Frex and Canvas, so pack options and shader settings can coexist. If a pack's config menu doesn't appear while shaders are active, check that the pack actually supports Respackopts.
Does Respackopts work on servers or with data packs?
It supports both resource packs and data packs, so server-side packs can expose config menus too. Players still need the mod installed on their own client to see and use those menus.
Why is my game slow the first time I load a pack with Respackopts?
Respackopts parses and computes the pack's config and conditional resources on first load, which takes extra time. After that, the results are cached, so subsequent loads are much faster.
My pack's options reset every time I launch the game — what's wrong?
Make sure you're confirming your choices in the config menu rather than closing it, since unconfirmed changes aren't saved. Also check that the pack file itself isn't being replaced or updated, which can wipe stored settings.
Can I use Respackopts with packs that don't officially support it?
No, a pack needs to include Respackopts config data for its menu to appear. You can't add a config menu to an arbitrary pack from the player side; that has to be built into the pack by its author.
