How to Use Resourceful Lib as a Pack Author Without Writing Code

What You Can Actually Do

Resourceful Lib is aimed at mod developers, but pack authors benefit indirectly. Several of its systems read from data packs, meaning you can influence dependent mods through JSON files rather than Java code. The most relevant pieces are its codecs for recipes, tags, predicates, and random collections, plus its memory resource and data pack support.

Working Through Data Packs

1. Identify which installed mod depends on Resourceful Lib and exposes data-driven content.

2. Create a data pack in your world's datapacks folder with a pack.mcmeta file.

3. Add or override the JSON files that mod reads — for example recipe or tag files under its namespace.

4. Reload with the reload command and watch the log for parse errors, which the library's codecs report clearly.

Because the library validates these files strictly, a malformed entry usually produces a readable error instead of a silent failure, which makes iterating on pack content easier.

Networking and Packs

Its cross-platform networking and resource/data pack handling mean dependent mods behave consistently whether you play singleplayer or on a server. If you run a server, make sure the library is installed on both sides so client-server features from dependent mods do not desync.

Limits

You cannot add new blocks or items through the library alone. It only supports the mods already using it.
