How to Force a Resource Pack to Show as Compatible With Your Minecraft Version

The Compatibility Warning

Minecraft marks resource packs as incompatible when their pack.mcmeta declares a different pack format than your game version. This blocks players from enabling packs that would otherwise work fine.

Forcing Compatibility

In the mod's config, find the entry for the pack you want to force. Enable the compatibility override option for that pack. This tells the mod to present the pack as compatible regardless of the format number in its metadata.

When to Use This

This is useful for modpack makers shipping packs built for a slightly different version, or for players who know a pack works despite the warning. Only force compatibility when you have tested that the pack actually loads correctly — forcing it on a genuinely broken pack can cause missing textures or crashes.

Verifying

Open the resource pack screen. The pack should no longer display the incompatible warning and should be selectable normally. If you also locked or hid the pack, those settings still apply. Reload the config from the selection screen to apply changes without restarting the game.
