How to Keep Playing While a Resource Pack Reloads

Why You Can Multitask Now

Normally, changing a resource pack locks the game until every texture is stitched. This mod moves that work off the main render path, so you keep control of your character during the reload. That means you can keep mining, fighting, or traveling while the new visuals stream in.

Practical Tips for Smooth Multitasking

1. Apply the pack from the Resource Packs menu, then immediately close the menu and return to the world.

2. Avoid entering menus that themselves trigger a reload, such as toggling certain video settings, until the progress bar disappears.

3. Do not open a world for the first time right after applying a heavy pack; let the bar finish first so chunk generation and texture loading do not compete.

4. If you are on a server, stay near safe ground while textures load, since some blocks may briefly render with placeholder or missing textures.

5. Watch the progress bar in a corner of the screen. When it vanishes, all assets are in place.

When Multitasking Is a Bad Idea

Missing or partially loaded textures can make hazards hard to see. For creative building or exploring, background loading is safe and convenient.
