How to Fix a Stuck or Frozen Reload Screen
Diagnosing the Freeze
If the reload screen still blocks you or the progress bar never completes, the mod is either not being applied or something is overriding it. First confirm the mod is present in your mods folder and that your loader recognizes it. Then check whether another performance or UI mod is replacing the reload screen.
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
1. Remove all resource packs except the default, then reload. If it completes, add packs back one at a time.
2. Check each pack for a valid pack.mcmeta and correct pack format for your game version. A malformed pack can stall loading indefinitely.
3. Disable other mods that touch the loading screen or resource manager, then retest.
4. If you use OptiFine, ensure it is the correct build for your version; mismatched builds can conflict with background loading.
5. Delete the options.txt resource pack entries if the game keeps trying to load a pack that no longer exists.
6. As a last resort, back up your configs and let the game regenerate them.
If It Still Fails
A pack that is extremely large, or one that references missing textures, may take a very long time even with background loading. Reduce pack size or split it into smaller packs. Report persistent freezes with your latest log so the cause can be identified.
