Create a Custom Recipe Using JSON

Setting Up Your Recipe File

Recipes are stored as JSON files in your mod's config directory. Create a new .json file with a descriptive name.

1. Navigate to your Reliable Recipes Mod config folder

2. Create a new file with .json extension (for example: custom_tools.json)

3. Use standard Minecraft JSON recipe format

4. Define your recipe with inputs (ingredients) and outputs (result)

5. Save the file and restart your game, or reload if the mod supports hot-reloading

JSON Structure

Follow Minecraft's native recipe syntax—no special scripting language required. Include:

  • Recipe type (shaped, shapeless, smelting, etc.)
  • Ingredient list with item names or tags
  • Result item and count

If you're unsure about the exact format, check existing recipe files in your config folder as templates. The mod reads all valid JSON files automatically.
