Make Water Look Clear and Reflective

Enable Water Reflections

In the Shader Settings menu, locate the water settings section. Enable the reflection option to make water surfaces mirror the sky and surrounding environment. This is one of Refrax's core features and works best in open areas where the sky is visible.

Adjust Water Clarity

Look for water transparency or fog distance settings within the water category. Increasing these values makes underwater visibility clearer and reduces the murky appearance of deep water. You can fine-tune this based on your preference—some players prefer atmospheric murk, others want crystal-clear underwater views.

Optimize Reflection Quality

If reflections are causing performance issues, reduce the reflection resolution setting. Lower resolutions still provide the reflective effect but use fewer resources. You can also limit reflections to specific distances from the player.

Test in Different Environments

Visit various water bodies—oceans, rivers, and lakes—to see how your settings look. Reflections appear most noticeably on calm water surfaces and during bright times of day. Adjust settings until water looks both beautiful and performs smoothly on your system.
