Adjust Shader Settings for Your Hardware
Access the Shader Menu
Press the Shader Settings key (default varies by launcher) while in-game, or access it through your video settings menu. You'll see the Refrax configuration panel with multiple adjustment categories.
Optimize for Performance
If you're experiencing frame rate drops:
- Lower shadow quality by reducing shadow map resolution
- Disable or reduce volumetric lighting effects
- Turn down cloud detail and density settings
- Reduce water reflection quality to improve performance on lower-end systems
- Disable ambient occlusion if needed
Enhance Visual Quality
If your system handles the mod well and you want better visuals:
- Increase shadow distance to see shadows further away
- Enable higher-quality water reflections
- Boost sky color saturation during sunrise and sunset
- Increase light source glow intensity for torches and lanterns
- Enable advanced cloud rendering for more detailed skies
Save Your Configuration
Once you've found settings that work well, they'll typically save automatically. Test your changes in different lighting conditions—daytime, night, and underground—to ensure the balance between performance and visuals suits your needs.
