Finding a Specific Recipe You Forgot

Use the Search Box

Open the recipe book and click the search field. Type part of the item name — for example, typing "piston" shows the piston recipe even if you have never crafted one. The search matches item names, so you do not need to remember the exact recipe shape. This is the single fastest fix for the "how do I craft this again" problem.

Reading the Recipe Grid

When you select a recipe, the crafting grid on the right shows the exact layout. Each slot shows the required item and its position. For shaped recipes, the arrangement matters; for shapeless recipes, the items can go anywhere in the grid. Hover over an ingredient in the grid to see its name if the icon is unclear. The output slot shows what you will get and how many.

Checking Ingredient Availability

If you have the ingredients in your inventory, they are highlighted or the recipe is craftable. If an ingredient is missing, the slot may appear dimmed or the craft button disabled. This tells you at a glance whether you can craft now or need to gather more materials. If you are missing something, note the ingredient name and go collect it — the mod does not tell you where to find it, only what it is.

Recipes From Mods

If you have other mods installed, their crafting recipes also appear in the book, provided those mods register them normally. This makes the recipe book a single place to look up both vanilla and modded recipes.
