Optimize Shader Performance on Lower-End Hardware
Reduce Volumetric Fog Quality
Volumetric fog is visually intensive. In the Iris menu, lower Volumetric Resolution or Fog Sample Count to improve frame rate. This reduces visual quality slightly but significantly boosts performance.
Disable or Lower Shadow Distance
Find Shadow Distance or Shadow Map Resolution settings. Reducing these values decreases the range and detail of shadows, freeing up GPU resources.
Decrease Water Reflection Quality
Water reflections are performance-heavy. Lower Reflection Resolution or disable Screen-Space Reflections if available. This keeps the water looking good while reducing demand.
Adjust Lighting Intensity
Reduce Sunlight Intensity or Ambient Light slightly. This has minimal visual impact but can improve frame rates on weaker systems.
Monitor Frame Rate
After each adjustment, check your FPS counter (F3 key). Make incremental changes and test in demanding areas like dense forests or large bodies of water to ensure smooth performance.
