How to Stop Bees From Going Hostile and Stinging You
Understand the trigger
In this mod, bees only turn hostile when you attack them first. Hitting a bee with any weapon, tool, or even your bare hand causes it to develop red eyes and retaliate. Once one bee is angered, nearby bees within range will also join the attack. The key takeaway: if you never swing at a bee, it will never sting you.
Practical prevention
- Avoid accidentally hitting bees while mining, chopping wood, or fighting other mobs near flowers and hives. Sweeping-edge swords are a common culprit.
- If you must relocate or cull bees, do it at night when they are inside the hive, or use a method that does not count as a direct attack.
- If you do get stung, retreat indoors or underwater. Bees cannot follow you into water effectively, and breaking line of sight reduces the swarm.
- Keep a bucket of milk or honey bottles on hand to clear the poison effect.
If a stinger is left behind
When a bee stings you, it may leave its stinger in your body. You will see a message about it. Removing it early stops the lingering poison and prevents further complications.
