How to Configure Bee Size and Spawn Counts for Your World

Find the config file

This mod is designed to be tweakable without adding new items or blocks. After installing it, a config file is generated in your instance's config folder. Open it with a plain text editor. You will find options for bee size, extra spawns per bee, and hive capacity.

What each option does

  • Bee size: Controls the scale of bees as a multiplier of their normal size. The default makes bees noticeably smaller than vanilla. You can set this anywhere from a very tiny fraction up to several times normal size. Smaller bees have suffocation damage prevented so they do not die in tight spaces.
  • Extra spawns per bee: When a bee naturally spawns, this many additional bees appear alongside it. The default adds a large group, which makes hives fill up fast. Lower it if you want fewer bees, or raise it for a busier world.
  • Hive capacity: The maximum number of bees a single hive can hold. The default is much higher than vanilla. Increase it for mega-hives or decrease it to keep populations manageable.

Applying changes

Save the file and restart the game or reload the world for changes to take effect. If you play on a server, the config must be set on the server side. Test with a fresh hive to confirm the new values behave as expected.
