Identify Unknown Blocks While Mining

How to Use Reader Mod While Exploring

When you encounter an unfamiliar block while mining or exploring, Reader Mod makes identification instant.

Basic Usage

1. Point your crosshair directly at the block you want to identify

2. Look at your action bar (the text area above your hotbar)

3. The block's name will appear automatically

There's no need to click, sneak, or use any special key—simply aiming at a block triggers the display. This works whether the block is in front of you, above you, or even partially obscured.

Tips for Effective Identification

  • Clear your view: Make sure nothing is blocking your line of sight to the block
  • Check variants: If a block has multiple variants (different colors, orientations, or states), the mod will show the specific variant name
  • Entities too: You can also identify mobs and other entities by pointing at them

This feature is especially useful when exploring modded biomes or after major updates where block textures might be unfamiliar. The overlay appears and disappears as you move your crosshair, so you can quickly scan an area to learn what's available.
