Adjust Global Illumination for Indoor Lighting
Open Global Illumination Menu
Access your shader settings and navigate to the Global Illumination or GI section. This controls how light bounces between surfaces indoors and outdoors.
Tune Light Bounce Settings
You'll find controls for:
- GI Intensity: Increases or decreases how much light reflects off nearby blocks. Higher values brighten dark corners naturally.
- GI Range: Determines how far light bounces from its source. Wider range means light spreads further through rooms.
- GI Samples: More samples create smoother, more realistic light distribution but reduce frame rate.
Test in Different Environments
Go inside a building with only torches or block lights as your light source. Increase GI intensity gradually until the indirect lighting feels natural—walls should glow faintly from nearby light sources without looking washed out. Outdoors, GI should make shadowed areas under trees and cliffs appear softer and less pitch-black. Adjust range if light seems to spread too far or not far enough through your spaces.
