Fixing the Rainbow XP Bar Not Showing Up

Check Pack Order First

The most common cause is a conflict with another resource pack. Open Options → Resource Packs and look at the Selected column on the right. Packs higher in the list override those below them. If another pack also replaces the experience bar texture, move the Rainbow XP Bar pack above it using the arrow buttons, then click Done.

Verify the File Structure

If reordering does not help, the pack may be packaged incorrectly. Open your resourcepacks folder and inspect the file. A working pack contains a pack.mcmeta file and an assets folder at its top level. A frequent mistake is having an extra folder layer — for example, resourcepacks/RainbowPack/RainbowPack/assets/... — which Minecraft cannot read. Move the inner folder up one level so assets and pack.mcmeta sit directly inside the pack folder or zip root.

Rule Out Other Causes

  • Make sure the pack is actually in the Selected column, not just Available.
  • If you use a mod loader, confirm the pack matches the edition you are running; packs built for one edition will not load in another.
  • Reload with F3 + T to force Minecraft to re-read resource packs without restarting.
  • If the XP bar changes but the ping bars do not, another pack is likely overriding just the GUI icons — reorder as above.
