Understanding Ragdoll Physics When Mobs Die

How Ragdoll Physics Work

When you defeat a mob with Ragdolls Mod installed, instead of the creature simply falling over with a standard death animation, it now uses realistic physics simulation. The mob's body will flop, tumble, and settle naturally based on gravity and the terrain around it.

What to Expect

Different mob types ragdoll differently depending on their body structure:

  • Humanoid mobs (zombies, skeletons, villagers, players) will tumble and slide across surfaces
  • Animals (pigs, cows, sheep) will collapse and settle based on their limb positions
  • Taller mobs may tip over dramatically when defeated on slopes or uneven ground

The ragdoll effect is purely visual and client-sided—it doesn't affect loot drops, experience gain, or server mechanics. Other players on the same server will see the ragdoll animations even if they don't have the mod installed, though their view will differ slightly.

Performance Impact

Ragdoll physics are lightweight and won't significantly impact your frame rate, even with many mobs dying simultaneously.
