Prepare Your Game for Adding Mods
Getting Ready for Mods
After installing Quilt, you need to set up your game folder before adding any mods.
Locate Your Mods Folder
1. Launch Minecraft with your Quilt profile at least once
2. Close the game
3. Open your Minecraft game directory:
- Windows: Press
Win + R, type%appdata%\.minecraft, press Enter - macOS: Open Finder, press
Cmd + Shift + G, type~/Library/Application Support/minecraft - Linux: Navigate to
~/.minecraft
4. You should see a mods folder has been created
5. This is where you'll place downloaded mod files
Before Adding Mods
Make a backup of your world saves if you have any. Create a new test world first to ensure mods load without issues. Check mod compatibility—ensure mods are built for Quilt and your Minecraft version. Keep your mod files organized and remove any mods you're no longer using to reduce conflicts.
