How to Add Your Own Questlines with a Datapack

Why a Datapack Is Required

Quest Giver Mod does not let you create quests through an in-game menu. All questlines, quests, tasks, and rewards are defined in a datapack. This means you need to author or edit datapack files and load them into your world before the quests will appear.

Setting Up the Datapack

1. Create a datapack folder structure in your world's datapacks directory.

2. Add the required metadata file so the game recognises the pack.

3. Create the quest definition files that the mod reads. These files describe each questline, the quests inside it, the tasks each quest contains, and the rewards granted on completion.

4. Associate questlines with villager professions so the correct villager offers the correct quests.

5. Load or reload the world so the datapack is applied.

Testing Your Quests

After loading, find the relevant Quest Giver Villager and confirm the exclamation mark appears and the quest shows up when you interact. Check that each task registers correctly and that rewards are granted on hand-in. Because the mod was designed around a specific modpack, expect to tune task and reward definitions to match your own pack's items and mobs rather than copying values blindly.
