Optimize Performance While Maintaining Visual Quality
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Open the Shader Options and note which settings have the biggest impact on your frame rate. Typically, shadow distance, reflection quality, and cloud detail consume the most resources.
Create a Balanced Profile
Start by reducing the most demanding settings:
- Lower shadow render distance first—this often provides the biggest frame rate boost.
- Reduce shadow resolution if needed.
- Disable or lower reflection quality in water.
- Decrease cloud detail or animation complexity.
- Adjust ambient occlusion intensity if available.
Test and Iterate
After each change, spend a few minutes exploring different biomes and times of day while monitoring your frame rate. Build in an open area, explore caves, and visit water to see real-world performance. If you're still below your target frame rate, continue reducing settings incrementally. Quanta Shaders is designed to run efficiently, so you should achieve playable performance without removing all visual enhancements. Document which settings work best for your hardware so you can quickly reapply them if needed.
