Adjust Shadow Softness and Quality
Access Shader Settings
Open the Shader Options menu while in-game by pressing the designated key (usually found in your controls settings or by accessing the shader menu from the pause screen). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Quanta Shaders offers adjustable shadow softness to balance visual quality with performance. You'll find options to control:
- Shadow Distance: How far shadows render from your character. Reducing this improves frame rate in large open areas.
- Shadow Resolution: The detail level of shadows. Lower settings run faster on less powerful computers.
- Penumbra Size: Controls how soft or sharp shadow edges appear. Increase for softer, more realistic shadows; decrease for sharper definition.
Test and Optimize
After adjusting each setting, observe how shadows look on terrain and buildings. Move between sunny and shaded areas to see the effect. If your frame rate drops noticeably, reduce shadow distance or resolution. The goal is finding the sweet spot where shadows look good without compromising performance on your system.
