Reduce Lag and Improve Performance on Low-End Computers
Verify Shader is Optimized
PS2 Shaders is designed for low-end hardware, but you can optimize further. Check Shader Options for performance-related toggles.
Lower Related Graphics Settings
Even with an efficient shader, reduce these in Video Settings:
- Render Distance: Lower values (8-12 chunks) significantly improve frame rate.
- Graphics Mode: Set to "Fast" rather than "Fancy."
- Particles: Reduce particle count or disable them.
- Entity Shadows: Disable if present.
- Smooth Lighting: Switch to "Minimum."
Disable Conflicting Features
If using resource packs alongside PS2 Shaders, ensure they're lightweight. High-resolution texture packs can bottleneck performance even with an optimized shader.
Monitor Performance
Enable the F3 debug screen to watch FPS. If it drops below your target, reduce render distance first—it has the biggest impact. The shader itself should maintain consistent performance on potato computers when paired with conservative graphics settings.
