Navigating the Dark Forest Safely
Manage Your Light
The forest is genuinely dark, making navigation difficult. Bring adequate light sources and manage them carefully. Don't waste resources on unnecessary illumination, but never venture into complete darkness unprepared.
Map Your Route
As you explore, mentally note landmarks and directions. The forest layout becomes clearer with each journey. Establish a base camp or safe location you can return to if things go wrong.
Avoid Getting Lost
When disoriented, stop moving and reorient yourself. Look for distinctive trees, rock formations, or structures you've seen before. Moving randomly when lost only wastes stamina and supplies.
Travel in Daylight When Possible
The horror is more active at night. Plan your exploration to return to safety before dark. If caught out after sunset, find shelter immediately rather than trying to navigate in darkness.
Know Your Limits
Turning back is sometimes the right choice. If you're low on resources, injured, or disoriented, retreat to safety and prepare better for your next expedition.
