How to Add or Configure Professions in a Pack

Why Professions Are Data-Driven

The mod is built so professions are defined by data rather than hardcoded. That means a pack author or server admin can add new occupations, remove defaults, or change what actions grant experience without touching the mod's code. If you are setting up a pack, this is the main reason to use Professions over a rigid leveling mod.

Editing the Data Files

Profession definitions live in the mod's data directory, typically under a professions folder inside a datapack or the mod's own data. Each entry describes the occupation's name, the actions or blocks that grant experience, the experience curve, and any optional item rewards. To add a new profession, copy an existing definition, rename it, and change the trigger actions and rewards to match what you want. To remove a default, override or delete its definition through your datapack.

Testing Your Changes

After editing, reload the datapack or restart the game so the changes take effect. Join a world and perform the action you assigned to the new profession; the profession menu should show the new entry and its bar should move. If nothing appears, the trigger is likely mismatched, so verify the block or action identifier against the mod's expected format before assuming the file is broken.
