Reduce Lag Spikes During Sunset and Sunrise
Identify the Problem
Sunset and sunrise cause intensive lighting recalculations as the sun moves across the sky. This can create temporary frame rate drops even on capable systems.
Adjust Transition Settings
In Shader Options, look for settings related to:
- Sky Lighting Transitions: Reduce the smoothness of lighting changes during sunrise/sunset. Faster transitions mean fewer intermediate calculations.
- Ambient Light Updates: Lower the frequency of recalculation if available.
- Volumetric Effects: Disable or reduce god rays and atmospheric lighting during these times, as they're most intensive during transitions.
Lower Shadow Quality Temporarily
Shadow rendering intensifies during low-angle sun positions. Reduce shadow resolution or softness—the visual difference is less noticeable during transitions anyway.
Disable Advanced Features
Consider turning off:
- Screen-space reflections
- Advanced bloom effects
- Complex atmospheric scattering
Test the Fix
Monitor FPS stability. If lag persists, lower overall shader quality tier.
