Optimize Lighting for Your Computer's Performance
Open Performance Settings
Access the Shader Options menu and navigate to the performance or quality tier section. Prizm Shaders typically offers preset profiles for different hardware levels.
Choose Your Hardware Profile
Select a preset matching your system:
- Low/Budget: Reduces shadow detail and lighting calculations. Best for older or modest computers.
- Medium: Balanced approach with good visuals and stable frame rates.
- High/Ultra: Full lighting effects with detailed shadows and advanced illumination.
Fine-Tune Individual Elements
If presets don't suit you, adjust specific features:
- Shadow resolution and softness
- Ambient occlusion intensity
- Light bounce calculations
- Volumetric lighting (god rays)
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 debug screen to watch your FPS while making changes. Aim for consistent frame rates during normal gameplay. If you dip below your target, reduce shadow quality or disable intensive effects.
Test Different Times
Check performance during sunrise, noon, sunset, and night—each has different lighting demands.
