Find and Explore Your First Subterranean Biome

Preparation

Before descending into the deep underground, gather basic mining tools (stone pickaxe minimum), torches, and food. The subterranean biomes in Primal Depths Resurrected spawn far below normal cave levels, so bring plenty of blocks for building a safe descent route.

Locating the Biomes

Head straight down past Y-level 0 using a mine shaft or by digging your own vertical tunnel. The six massive biomes—Magnetic Caves, Primordial Caves, Toxic Caves, Abyssal Chasm, Forlorn Hollows, and others—generate in distinct underground layers. You'll know you've found one when the terrain, blocks, and ambient mobs change dramatically from standard Minecraft caves.

Staying Safe

Place torches frequently to mark your path back. Each biome contains unique hostile mobs adapted to its environment, so expect danger. Bring a bed to set your spawn point deep underground, reducing travel time if you die. Collect any new block types and resources you find—these are needed for the Cave Compendium research.

First Steps

Once you've located a biome, explore cautiously, gather samples of unique blocks and ores, and observe the local mob types. Return to the surface to craft a Spelunkery Table and begin documenting your discoveries.
