Troubleshoot Missing or Incorrect Footstep Sounds
Verify the Mod is Loaded
Check your game's mod list to confirm Presence Footsteps appears and shows as active. If it's not listed, the mod may not be installed correctly for NeoForge. Ensure you're using the NeoForge-specific version, not the original Forge port.
Check Your Audio Settings
Open Minecraft's sound settings and verify that master volume and "Friendly Creatures" or ambient sound sliders are turned up. Footstep sounds often fall under these categories. Also confirm your system volume isn't muted.
Inspect Configuration Files
Review the mod's config files for syntax errors or missing sound file references. Broken JSON or incorrect file paths will prevent sounds from playing. Look for any error messages in your game's log file (.minecraft/logs/latest.log).
Verify Sound Files Exist
Navigate to the mod's sounds folder and confirm all referenced audio files are present. If sound files are missing or corrupted, footsteps won't play for those blocks.
Reset to Defaults
Delete the config file and let the mod regenerate it with default settings. This often fixes configuration corruption that causes missing sounds.
