Use Bison for Natural Seed Spreading and Land Restoration
How Bison Replant Seeds
When tamed bison engage in dust wallowing (rolling in dirt), they collect plant seeds from their surroundings and naturally replant them nearby. This makes them excellent for restoring overgrazed or barren areas.
Setting Up a Restoration Zone
Place your bison in an area with sparse vegetation or depleted farmland. Switch them to wandering mode so they roam freely and interact with the ground. As they move and wallow, they'll gradually spread seeds and regrow plants across the landscape.
Optimizing Seed Collection
Bison collect seeds more effectively in areas with diverse plant life. Plant various crops and flowers around your restoration zone to give them more seeds to gather. The more they wallow, the more seeds they'll spread—so larger herds working together will restore land faster.
This is particularly useful for recovering areas damaged by mining or construction, or for naturally expanding your farmland without manual replanting.
