Defend Your Base from Hostile Bison and Manage Herd Aggression
Understanding Bison Threat Response
Wild bison are protective of their herd. If you attack one bison or get too close to calves, nearby herd members will charge at you. Tamed bison will also defend themselves and their companions if provoked. Males occasionally headbutt each other during normal behavior—this is harmless.
Avoiding Conflict with Wild Herds
When approaching wild bison to tame them, move slowly and avoid sudden movements. Don't attack any bison in the herd, as this triggers a coordinated charge response. If a herd becomes aggressive, retreat to higher ground or create distance between yourself and the group.
Protecting Your Tamed Bison
Keep your tamed bison in a secure enclosure away from hostile mobs. Switch them to resting mode when you're not actively managing them—resting bison are less likely to wander into danger. Feed them regularly to keep them healthy and reduce stress.
If you're breeding a large herd, ensure your enclosure has adequate space so bison don't accidentally injure each other during normal interactions.
