Blind Zombies by Severing Their Heads
Why Decapitate Zombies?
Unlike living mobs such as villagers or players, zombies can survive without their heads. However, decapitation causes complete blindness—the zombie loses its target and cannot see you, making it harmless even if it continues moving.
Target the Head
Aim your weapon strikes at the head and neck area. Use a sharp, fully charged attack. Weapon material matters; diamond and netherite axes are more effective than weaker tools.
Armor on the Head
If the zombie wears a helmet, you must damage or remove it first. Helmets provide significant protection against head strikes. Attack multiple times or aim for other body parts to strip armor before attempting decapitation.
Blind Behavior
Once headless, the zombie wanders aimlessly and will not pursue you. It can still deal damage if you collide with it, so maintain distance. The severed head bounces away and disappears after a short time.
Contrast with Living Mobs
Remember: living creatures like villagers die instantly when decapitated. Only undead mobs like zombies survive and become blind. Use this knowledge to plan your combat strategy.
