Using Potentials Mod for Cross-Loader Capabilities

What Potentials Mod Does

Potentials Mod provides a unified system for using Capabilities (API lookups) across both NeoForge and Fabric. In practice, this means mods and modpacks can rely on a single capability framework instead of writing separate integration code for each loader.

Shared Capabilities

The mod supplies shared Capabilities for two common resource types:

  • Energy — for blocks and items that store or transfer energy.
  • Fluid storage — for blocks and items that hold or move fluids.

Custom and Existing Integration

Potentials Mod also enables custom or existing capability integration. This lets developers hook their own blocks and items into the shared system, or connect content that already exposes capabilities, so lookups resolve consistently regardless of which loader is running.

Who This Is For

This is primarily a developer-facing library. If you are a player, you will usually encounter it only as a dependency required by another mod. Install it alongside the mods that need it and leave the rest to the capability system.
