Set Up a Progression Chain with Multiple Locked Portals

Create a Gated Progression System

Portal Restrict Mod is ideal for building modpacks where players must complete tasks in order. You can lock multiple portals with different items, forcing a specific progression path.

Design Your Chain

1. Decide which dimensions players should access first, second, and so on

2. Choose a unique item for each portal — for example, the Nether might require a diamond, while The End requires an emerald

3. Make sure the items are obtainable in the order you want — the first item should be findable in the starting world, the second in the Nether, and so on

Configure Each Portal

1. Open your Portal Restrict Mod configuration

2. Set the Nether portal to require the first item

3. Set The End portal to require the second item

4. Add any other dimension locks you need

5. Save and reload

Testing Your Progression

Start fresh and try to enter each portal in order without the required items — you should be blocked. Then obtain the items in sequence and verify that each portal unlocks when you hold the correct item. This ensures players follow your intended progression path.
