Lock a Portal to Require a Specific Item

Set Up Portal Restrictions

Portal Restrict Mod lets you prevent players from entering a dimension unless they carry a particular item. This is useful for controlling progression and preventing players from skipping important gameplay stages.

How to Configure

1. Open your mod configuration file (usually found in the config folder of your server or client)

2. Locate the Portal Restrict settings

3. Identify which dimension you want to restrict (for example, the Nether or The End)

4. Specify the item that acts as a "key" — this can be any item in the game, such as a diamond, emerald, or custom modded item

5. Save your configuration

Testing Your Lock

Once configured, approach the portal without holding the required item. You should see a message telling you what item is needed. Walk toward the portal frame — you will not be able to pass through.

Now pick up the required item and approach again. You should now be able to enter the dimension freely.

You can set different items for different portals, allowing you to create a progression system where players must complete tasks or find specific items before advancing to new worlds.
