Customize Shader Settings for Your Graphics Card
Identify Your Hardware Limitations
Before adjusting settings, know your graphics card's capabilities. PoorLite is designed for older and weaker cards, but even within that range, some cards are more powerful than others.
Start with a Baseline
Open the settings menu and note which effects are currently enabled. If the game runs smoothly, you're at a good baseline. If it stutters or lags, you'll need to disable features.
Disable Effects Strategically
Start by turning off the most demanding features: light rays first, then shadow quality. Leave basic block lighting on—it has minimal performance cost and significantly improves visuals.
Use Sliders for Fine-Tuning
Many settings include intensity or quality sliders rather than simple on/off toggles. Reduce these gradually rather than disabling features entirely. Lower shadow resolution or light ray density before turning them off completely.
Test in Different Environments
Check performance in dense forests, near water, and in open areas. Some locations stress your GPU more than others. Adjust settings until the game runs smoothly everywhere you play.
