How to Choose the Right Ammunition Caliber for Your Gun
Point Blank has many calibers, and using the wrong one means your gun will not load. This guide helps you match ammo to weapon.
Common Caliber Pairings
- 5.56mm: Used by M4-style rifles and similar NATO-pattern weapons.
- 7.62mm: Used by AK-pattern rifles like the AK-47 and AK-12 variants.
- 5.45mm: Used by AK-74 and similar Eastern-bloc rifles.
- 9mm: Common for pistols and submachine guns.
- 12 Gauge: Shotguns like the AA12 and Citori CXS.
- .50 BMG: Heavy sniper rifles and anti-materiel weapons.
- .338 Lapua: Long-range precision rifles like the L96A1.
- .357, .45 ACP, .50 AE: Handgun calibers.
- 4.6mm, 5.7mm, 6.8mm: Specialized calibers for specific weapons.
How to Check
Hover over a gun in your inventory — the tooltip usually lists its caliber. Craft that exact caliber at the Arms Dealer Workstation. Never assume two guns share ammo just because they look similar.
Practical Advice
- Carry at least two ammo types if you use two different guns.
- Craft ammo in bulk; a single firefight can drain a stack.
- Store ammo in labeled chests by caliber to avoid mix-ups.
- If a gun will not reload, the first thing to check is caliber mismatch.
