Optimize Your Server for More Players

Reducing Server Load

PocketMine-MP performs best with 10-50 players, but optimization helps support more.

1. Reduce view distance: Lower chunk render distance in server.properties (default is often 8—try 6 or 4)

2. Disable unnecessary features: Turn off weather, reduce mob spawning, or disable animations in config files

3. Limit plugins: Only run essential plugins; each one consumes memory and processing power

4. Increase allocated RAM: If running on a dedicated machine, allocate more memory to the PHP process

Monitoring Performance

1. Use the /status command to check TPS (ticks per second)—aim for 20 TPS

2. Monitor CPU and RAM usage on your host machine

3. Check server logs for lag spikes or errors

4. Disable plugins one-by-one if performance drops to identify the culprit

Hardware Considerations

For larger player counts, consider upgrading to a dedicated server with better CPU performance. PocketMine-MP is CPU-intensive rather than RAM-intensive, so processor speed matters more than total memory.
