Using Health Indicators to Decide When to Fight or Flee in PvP
Assess Before You Engage
Before you swing, glance at the hearts above your opponent and compare them to your own. If their bar is noticeably shorter than yours, you have a health advantage and can afford to trade hits. If their bar is longer, avoid a straight exchange and look for an opening instead.
Mid-Fight Decisions
- Track the gap between your health and theirs. When your bar drops below theirs, break off, eat, and re-engage rather than continuing to trade.
- When you land a combo and their hearts fall fast, keep pressure on. A low-health opponent is more likely to panic, retreat predictably, or make mistakes.
- If both bars are low, decide based on positioning. Fighting near your own escape route is safer than chasing a nearly dead player into unknown terrain.
Fleeing With Information
When you disengage, the overlay still shows your pursuer's health. A pursuer at low health may give up the chase or be easy to turn on. A pursuer at full health is more likely to keep chasing, so prioritize distance and obstacles over a counterattack.
Group Fights
In multi-player fights, scan the hearts above each enemy to find the weakest target. Focusing the lowest-health player removes a threat from the fight fastest, which shifts the numbers in your favor.
