Tracking an Opponent's Health During a Chase or Retreat
Keep the Target in View
While chasing or running, keep the other player on screen so the hearts above their name stay visible. The overlay updates as their health changes, so you can tell whether they are healing, taking fall or environmental damage, or still wounded from the earlier fight.
Chasing a Wounded Player
- If their hearts stay low, keep pursuing. They are unlikely to survive a direct confrontation, so closing the gap is worth the risk.
- If their hearts refill, they have healed. Reassess whether the chase is still worthwhile, since you may now be running into a fair or unfavorable fight.
- Watch for their hearts dropping without you hitting them. Fall damage, fire, or other players may be finishing the job for you, letting you hang back and stay safe.
Retreating From a Pursuer
When you flee, glance back at your pursuer's hearts. A pursuer at low health may break off or be vulnerable to a sudden turn. A pursuer at full health is committed, so focus on breaking line of sight and reaching safety.
Environmental Clues
The overlay helps you read situations you cannot see directly.
