How to Tell If Player Animator Mod Is Actually Doing Anything

Player Animator is a library, not a content mod. On its own it adds no items, blocks, mobs, or menus, so "installing it and looking around" will show you nothing. The way you confirm it works is by watching the mods that depend on it.

Check your mod list first

Open your mods screen and confirm Player Animator is listed alongside the mod that needs it (for example, a combat overhaul that changes swing animations). If the dependent mod loads without a missing-dependency crash, the library is functioning. If you removed Player Animator and the game refuses to start or the dependent mod disappears from the list, that is the library doing its job as a dependency.

Watch the player, not the world

Because the library drives player movement animation, the visible payoff is in third-person view. Press your perspective-toggle key and attack, walk, or sprint. Mods built on Player Animator typically replace the vanilla arm-swing with a different motion — a wider arc, a wind-up, a follow-through. If you see a new swing shape in third person, the animation pipeline is active. In first person the change is usually subtle or invisible, which is normal and not a sign of failure.

When nothing changes

If the dependent mod is installed and loaded but animations look vanilla, the issue is almost always in that mod's own config, not in Player Animator. Check the dependent mod's settings before troubleshooting the library.
