Fixing a Missing Player Animator Dependency Crash

The most common way players meet this mod is through a crash that names it. Here is how to read and resolve that.

Read the error, don't guess

When Minecraft fails to launch, the crash log or the launcher's error window will usually say something like a required mod is missing, and it will name the mod that needs it. That named mod is the one you actually wanted. Player Animator is the thing it is asking for. Do not go looking for a different version of the dependent mod — go get the library.

Match the loader and the game version

A dependency crash also happens when you have Player Animator installed but for the wrong mod loader or the wrong game version. A library built for one loader will not satisfy a mod built for another, and the game will still report it as missing even though the file is sitting right there in your mods folder. Check that the library's loader and game version line up with the dependent mod's, not just with your game.

Remove duplicates

If you have two copies of the library — for example one bundled inside a modpack folder and one you added manually — you can get a duplicate-mod error instead of a missing-mod error. Delete the extra copy and keep one.

After it loads

Once the game starts, the library itself gives you no new screen or button. Success looks like the dependent mod working normally. If it does, you are done.
