Getting the Best Visual Quality from Fluid Animations

Understanding the Enhanced Fluid System

Plain & Precious improves how water, lava, and other fluids animate and flow. The textures are smoother and more visually consistent than vanilla, making flowing liquids easier to track and more pleasant to watch.

Optimizing Your View

To see fluid animations at their best:

1. Set graphics to Fancy in Video Settings — this enables all particle and animation effects the pack provides.

2. Increase your render distance if your hardware allows. Smoother fluid textures become more noticeable across larger areas of water or lava.

3. Use a shader pack alongside (optional). Plain & Precious pairs well with complementary shaders that respect its vanilla-close aesthetic.

4. Look at flowing water from different angles — the improved animations are most apparent when you're near moving liquids, especially waterfalls and lava flows.

Checking Your Settings

If fluids still look choppy or unclear:

  • Verify resource pack is loaded first in your pack list (highest priority)
  • Check that Mipmap Levels isn't set too high, which can blur textures
  • Ensure Fast Graphics isn't enabled, as it disables smooth animations
