Customize the Look of Water in Your World

Access Water Settings

Open the Pixel Shades Shaders options from Video Settings and locate the water physics and appearance section.

Adjust Wave and Foam Behavior

The shader generates moving waves and foam automatically near shorelines. You can control:

  • Wave height and frequency to make water more or less turbulent
  • Foam intensity to increase or decrease the white foam effect at water edges
  • Wave speed to make water movement faster or slower

Control Light Reflection

Realistic water reflects light bouncing off the surface. Adjust the reflection intensity to make water appear more mirror-like or more matte. Higher reflection values create a more cinematic, shiny appearance.

Apply Changes Across Dimensions

These water settings work in the Overworld, Nether, and End. Test your adjustments in different biomes—water behavior may look different depending on surrounding terrain, sky color, and lighting conditions. Shallow water near beaches often shows foam effects most clearly, making it a good place to preview your changes.
