Set Up a Datapack Folder Structure for Custom Terrain
Create Your Datapack Directory
Inside your world's datapacks folder, create a new directory with a descriptive name like my_custom_terrain. Inside this folder, create a pack.mcmeta file that identifies it as a datapack. This file should specify the pack format and description.
Organize Dimension Configuration
Within your datapack, create the folder structure: data/minecraft/dimension/ (or your custom dimension namespace). This is where Pixel Canvas Terrain Mod looks for your heightmap and biome map images.
Place Your Image Files
Copy your grayscale heightmap PNG and your colored biome map PNG into the dimension configuration folder. Name them clearly—for example, heightmap.png and biomes.png—and ensure they match in dimensions.
Configure Settings
Create or edit the dimension configuration file (usually a JSON file in the same folder) to reference your image files and specify which biome colors map to which Minecraft biomes. Consult your mod's example datapacks for the exact configuration syntax.
Test Your Setup
Create a new world with your datapack active and verify terrain generates correctly.
