Defending Your Fortress Against Mobs

Leveraging Existing Defenses

The fortress's stone construction and elevated walls already provide significant protection. Maximize these natural advantages before adding new defenses.

Defense Setup

1. Secure entry points – Place doors at all ground-level entrances and seal off unused passages with blocks.

2. Light the perimeter – Install torches along walls and towers to prevent mob spawning on the fortress exterior.

3. Create kill zones – Use the courtyard's open space to funnel mobs into controlled areas where you can engage them safely.

4. Guard the towers – Place torches and fencing on tower tops to prevent mobs from reaching high vantage points.

5. Seal windows strategically – Block lower arched windows while keeping upper ones open for visibility and air flow.

Ongoing Maintenance

Regularly check for mobs that spawn in dark interior rooms and clear them. Maintain torch placement as you expand your base. Consider creating a moat or water channel around the island perimeter for additional mob control. The fortress's thick walls mean mobs cannot break through—focus on preventing entry rather than reinforcement.
